You're Welcome

The title of this post, "you're welcome," is intentional. It's not meant to come across as arrogant or imply that we expect gratitude for anything. Instead, it's a response to the feedback we frequently receive.

Today, a young man approached me, asking if he could display his paintings in the gallery. I asked about his style, and he mentioned it was similar to some works already exhibited. I suggested we might consider his artworks for consignment. However, he interrupted, explaining he wasn't interested in making money; he just wanted a reason to paint. I paused, offering a half-smile, but then I truly looked at him. He was sincere. His earnest expression confirmed that he genuinely just wanted a reason to paint. I told him, of course, to go paint something and bring it to me. He said Thank you. The reason I listened to him and believed him is that he isn't the first artist to express the absolute need to create.

About a month ago, another person reached out to me. She mentioned that she used to be an artist—emphasizing "used to be." After discovering our gallery online, she felt inspired to create again and asked if she could join us. When I reviewed her work, I was amazed—there was no "used to be" about it; she is an exceptional artist. When we invited her in, she said thank you. There was also someone else who "only created for fun" and didn't believe their work was gallery-worthy—I have already sold two of their pieces. They said Thank you. Another, who occasionally created a piece here and there, is now producing beautiful, playful works almost daily. She said thank you.

Suddenly inspired to get back to the easel, the pencil, the clay—whatever their chosen medium—they are finding momentum, driven by the gallery. They are not only creating but are also grateful to have a venue to showcase their work. Both local and visiting customers are expressing gratitude for providing a space where they can appreciate local art. Nearby businesses and art lovers are thanking us for being part of Arcadia. To say it is humbling is an understatement.

Our greatest desire was to establish a safe space where artists feel acknowledged and respected. Even though our journey is just starting, we already sense our roots taking hold. So, you're welcome, Arcadia. You're welcome, local artists and art enthusiasts. And a great big heartfelt thank you from us for all the appreciation and support we have received so far. This has already been amazing.
