rusty gate in the woods with passion vine

Passion Ant Lubber

SKU: MNP-OAP-WC-PAL
$450.00Price

This painting captures a moment of natural drama centered on a passionflower vine (passiflora). The vine climbs between an old weathered wooden post and a rusted metal gate, setting a contrasting scene of natural growth against human -made decay.

Prominently featured is a large Eastern Lubber Grasshopper (Romalea microptera) clinging to the rough bark of the wooden post. Its striking yellow, black, and red markings are clearly visible on its back. The vine itself is shown in various stages, from healthy green leaves (some with feeding damage) to a delicate distinctive passion flower in full, intricate bloom.

The composition juxtaposes the beautiful, yet fragile, bloom of the passionflower with the robust, potentially destructive presence of the lubber grasshopper, both linked by the shared environment of the vine and its support structures.
